I am a multimedia artist who uses childhood toys and experiences to tell stories about mental health. My current project involves my own idea of a happy place and the characters that bring it to life.
About the Artist: Courtney Jenkins is a graduate of St. Mary’s College of Maryland with a Bachelors of Arts in Art and a minor in Educational Studies. She will be pursuing a Masters in Teaching with a certification in art education at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. She is currently working as an assistant art teacher at a local art studio, The Yellow Line. Courtney is a member of St. Mary’s County Arts Council and the Crochet Guild of America. She lives in Mechanicsville, MD and uses her family as inspiration for those stories, basing characters and events off her three brothers, two corgi puppies, and their numerous antics. Her senior project, which is focused on her experience with her mental health, is titled What Is Your Happy Place? and features her animated characters overcoming hardships.
