Inspiring Artist

This might be a little-known fact about me, but I like to watch anime and read manga in my free time. In fact, many of my drawings mimic this style. This is for two reasons: I like how it looks and it allows me to better visualize what I am trying to create, whether that be a character, animal, or environment.

One of my favorite manga artists is Kōhei Horikoshi. His most famous work is called My Hero Academia, which is a story set in the future about superheroes. He was born in 1986 in Aichi Prefecture, Japan, which is on the East coast of the main island. Horikoshi's art style has a lot of bold outlines and dark shadows, with a medium amount of details. It puts a Japanese twist on American comics.

Horikoshi inspires me not only with his stories, but also his illustrations. He showed me that art does not always have to be "neat" or "pretty." It can be rough and that is okay. It is natural that some things in this world are not always perfect, but they can be appreciated. As an artist, that helped relieve some of the pressure that I put on myself. And so, this is my thanks to Horikoshi for inspiring me to better my artwork in a positive way.
